Facilitator of tough as nails local club events Klang, Aotearoa electronic artist Samari has created an alternative soundtrack to Adam Curtis' 2016 documentary HyperNormalisation, a withering dissection of the "fake world" conjured on a global scale by proponents of late capitalism. Released in March via Italian imprint Vein Label, now's a timely moment to immerse your ears in Samari's nine track debut album Hyper Normal. Drawing inspiration from Detroit techno pioneer Jeff Mills' complete reimagining of the soundtrack to Fritz Lang's Metropolis, Hyper Normal offers an uncompromising sonic reflection on and distillation of themes from Curtis' epic, with individual tracks titled after each chapter of the nine part film.
