Ty Segall Unveils Harry Nilsson Covers EP 'Segall Smeagol'
It should come as a surprise to absolutely nobody that hyperprolific US guitar wrangler Ty Segall (Wasted Shirt) has been making the most of his time at home by getting a spot of music recorded. With a creative work ethic that rivals the likes of King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard, Segall has turned his attention to the robe-donning output of 70s pop innovator Harry Nilsson, covering favourites from his 1971 classic Nilsson Schmilsson on the aptly titled Segall Smeagol. Leading with the awesomely fuzzy grooves of Segall's cover of Nilsson's snappy staple 'Coconut', this one's a winner from the get go, concluding with a hella rockin' rendition of 'Jump Into The Fire'. This is no April Fools prank, but the real deal itself – put some oomph into your own robe-wearing domestic rituals with Segall Smeagol, released for free via Bandcamp and streamable right here..
