Moppy Drops Five Track 'ENEMY OF PROGRESS' EP
"As long as the music's loud enough, we won't hear the world falling apart." Thus proclaims Moppy, the solo electronic project of Thom Burton (Guardian Singles, SoccerPractise), kicking off his ENEMY OF PROGRESS EP – the elusive artist's first set of tunes available under that moniker since 2016's Hexakosiohexakontehexaphobia. Sporting five instrumental tracks with a smattering of zoned vocal samples, Moppy's new collection goes deep; addictively wonky grooves and gritty textures snake through deftly arranged blazed beat wizardry. Frustratingly, live release party plans have been thwarted by the coronavirus Covid-19 outbreak, that event is instead moving into the digital realm and will be streamed this coming Friday 27th March from 7.30pm NZT, featuring Moppy with Umbrellas (Nick Walsh, ex-Deer Park) and Kaczynski (Adam Fulton of Hedge Fund Trader / Damsels). Moppy will also be dropping another EP named Imposter Syndrome on that day too!
"Like a lot of musicians right now I have had to cancel a tour [that luckily I didn't announce] so all Bandcamp support is appreciated!"
Thom Burton's group Guardian Singles' self-titled debut album is out now on limited edition vinyl LP via Moral Support here.
