Jamaica's "queen of the dancehall" Sister Nancy returns to Aotearoa this month, to headline WUK It UP's fifth birthday celebrations at Tāmaki Makaurau's Cassette Nine. Joined for the party by France's DJ Legal Shot (of Legal Shot Sound) and supports FJ, Misa, Morning Stepper and Azbo, Sister Nancy is revered by multiple generations of music lovers for her towering 1982 classic 'Bam Bam', cited by Billboard as "a strong contender for the title of most sampled reggae song of all time" – sampled by Kanye West on 'Famous' and JAY-Z on 'Bam' (featuring Damian Marley). Grip the details for the can't-miss club event and grab tickets while you can...

UPDATE 16/03/20: WUK It UP have cancelled their March birthday party and shared the following statement via social media...

"It is with great sadness that we announce the cancellation of our upcoming birthday party with Sister Nancy. Due to the recent developments of the border controls over the weekend, we are unfortunately unable to comply with the 14 day isolation period for people coming into NZ. We understand the need for these measures considering the current global battle with Covid-19 and wish to keep people safe." We appreciate the support and love for the show and we are hoping to re-schedule and will keep you all posted with this."

We are so happy and truly honored to announce that for our 5th birthday celebrations, we get to play host to one of the most prolific voices in reggae music..

Sister Nancy has been a defining force in reggae and dancehall for the past 30 years and it truly is such a blessing that we get to experience this talent live and direct.

With an esteemed catalogue of hits such as the 'Bam Bam' riddim, 'Only woman DJ with degree' and more, this is a chance to witness a true legend of the culture and scene in Auckland city.

Sister Nancy will also be joined by french heavyweight ' DJ Legal Shot' from the French 'Legal Shot Sound' family.

We would also just like to take the time to say THANK YOU to all ravers that turn out every month to fill the dance floor and groove to this music we love so much. The support for this club night and movement has been so strong over the 5 years of us doing these parties and we are really humbled to be here 5 years on.
