Watch Masks' Video 'Our Weekend Starts Tomorrow'
Blazing onto the scene with debut split single Our Weekend Starts Tomorrow / Broken Glass, Aotearoa post-punks Masks have set the bar high from the word go. The two tracks set a wide scope for further releases, from the shoegazey goodness and Why? vibes on 'Our Weekend Starts Tomorrow', to the noisy, instrumental fuzzscape of 'Broken Glass'. Die! Die! Die! frontman Andrew Wilson initially kept his name under wraps for the project, as a way to create "music with no limits and expectations,” and give them the freedom to experiment with new sounds. Although Wilson's removed his mask, other collaborators have kept theirs on, and the director duo of Morgan and Joseph Leary have created a sinister clip for 'Our Weekend Starts Tomorrow', starring countless masked local music accomplices, only recognisable by those in the know. Mastered by Mikey Young of Total Control, Masks' split single is available on a super limited run of lathe-cut 7" records through UK imprint Buzzhowl Records, and they've hinted at an album down the track.
