Premiere: Thee Golden Geese Share Debut Single '22/39' + Video

New kids on Tāmaki Makaurau's musical block, Thee Golden Geese have already chalked up a honking great pair of live appearances since taking flight last October, and today we're thrilled to premiere their mega catchy debut single '22/39'. Boasting an all-star membership of Matthew Crawley (The Conjurors), Dave Taylor (Magic Factory), Gareth Shute (Fever Party) and James Dansey (Hang Loose, The Sneaks, Spring Break), Thee Golden Geese put their best feet forward with '22/39', extolling the virtues of maintaining a fun outlook on life no matter what your age. Clocking in at exactly a minute in length, the snappy tune comes accompanied by a self-directed video depicting the group getting up to all sorts of antics, with plenty of wig-flipping street-riding skills and hot tub action. Every Thee Golden Geese live show so far has showcased brand new material (along with crowd favourite 'Takeaway') – even if you've seen them before, you'll still need to head along to their forthcoming gig at Thirsty Dog on the 31st of January with Warm Leather, Dateless and King Ketchup, to ensure you don't miss any fresh party-starting goodness.

Frontman Matthew Crawley lifted the lid on Thee Golden Geese's now no longer secret origins: "Thee Golden Geese formed when Magic Factory's secret weapon Papa Dave Taylor approached me to start up a new band to fill in our non-existent spare time. The Conjurors were on a long holiday seemingly, so I slowly leapt on the opportunity. I hands down refuse to play in a band without Gareth "Gary" Shute on bass, so thankfully he was quite interested in playing some more doofus rock'n'roll, and once we'd recruited James "Hang Loose, The Sneaks, Spring Break" Dansey on drums, it felt good, and thankfully continues to feel good.

With only two shows under our belt, we've been playing around with setlists, and for the time being, every Thee Golden Geese show you'll see will have at least a 50% different set to the last one... We're writing songs at an alarming rate, including a special song for every show - whether it be a Christmas song, or even a song dedicated to the bands we're playing with... Catch us while we still have the energy to keep this kind of dumb nonsense up! We've all agreed that the goal for this year is to release our debut album, which will also be a triple album, and at this stage tentatively titled 69 Dumb Songs as a tribute to the great 69 Love Songs record by Magnetic Fields. We're up to about fifteen songs, so we should have the rest written by my birthday, which is in April. I'm not sure what I'm doing for my birthday yet, but I'm turning 40, which will mean that every member of the band is in their 40s, which I think really opens up a whole new audience to us, and that's exciting.
