Guardian Singles Share Self-Titled Debut Album

Guardian Singles Share Self-Titled Debut Album

A.B. / Friday 17th January, 2020 12:44PM

Tāmaki Makaurau’s seasonal super-group in residence Guardian Singles have finally dropped their self-titled debut album. A spectre is haunting Whammy Bar – the spectre of Guardian Singles. Over the past few years the band has developed a cultish mystique, and no wonder considering their infrequent gigging and a line-up which includes Thom Burton (Wilberforces, SoccerPractise), Fiona Campbell (Vivian Girls, Chain and The Gang, Coolies), Madison Eve (Peach Milk), Durham Fenwick (Green Grove) and Perry Mahoney (Civil Union, Crash Material). Packed with taut, frantic jangle, and cryptic paranoiac lyrics, this new LP really delivers on the energetic anxious party post-punk rock that has made the band so beloved. It’s a kind of uniquely New Zealand anthemic angst, coming through particularly on stand out tracks like lead single 'Tea Lights Exploding' and 'Being Alone', along with The Sound cover 'Heartland'. Out now on new local imprint Moral Support, Guardian Singles is available digitally and in a very limited vinyl release. If you’re in Auckland you can catch Guardian Singles tomorrow night for their album release at de facto band HQ, Whammy Bar.

'GUARDIAN SINGLES' vinyl LP will be released on vinyl LP via Moral Support on Saturday 18th January, presales are available now via the band's Bandcamp page. Presale + ticket options for their album launch party are available HERE via UTR.
