Moon Duo 'The Lightship' New Zealand Show Announced
Portland psychedelic travellers Moon Duo are touching down in Aotearoa this February, here for a one-off headline show at Tāmaki Makaurau's The Hollywood Avondale. Fresh from releasing their sonically sublime, groove-worshipping seventh studio album Stars Are The Light (a UTR office favourite), the team of Ripley Johnson (Wooden Shjips) and Sanae Yamada (Vive La Void) will present The Lightship, a mind-expanding audio-visual spectacular inspired by '70s discotheques and "the psychedelic experience" – with the pair performing inside a constantly shape-shifting, lysergic lightbox environment. The show's been described by Brooklyn Vegan as “a genuine wow” – don't dare miss Moon Duo's first New Zealand event in five years this summer...

Press release:
Following the shimmery goodness of their seventh album Stars Are The Light, America’s favourite psych-rock pair are bringing their mind-blowing visual spectacular to Auckland’s lovingly restored cinema and venue, the Hollywood in Avondale. The critically acclaimed new show finds Moon Duo, aka Ripley Johnson and Sanae Yamada performing inside a perception-shifting, visual environment light box helmed by artist Emmanuel Biard and inspired by '70s discotheques and the psychedelic experience.
It’s a show Brooklyn Vegan are calling “...a genuine wow”, and “...a truly psychedelic experience”, and with only one Auckland show on this tour, you won’t want to miss it.
