Stereolab New Zealand Shows Announced
English-French retro-futurists Stereolab are making their long-awaited return to Aotearoa in early March 2020, playing headline events in Auckland and Wellington. Formed in 1990 around the core team of Laetitia Sadier and Timothy Gane, the politically charged avant-pop "groop" released a killer run of krautrock and synth-infused records until their temporary disbandment in 2009, including their Flying Nun Records collection Refried Ectoplasm: Switched On, Vol. 2 (1995) and hands down classics Emperor Tomato Ketchup (1996) and Dots and Loops (1997), which have recently received the deluxe vinyl reissue treatment. By all accounts an awesome live band, you can catch Stereolab in action at their first local shows in over a decade at the dates below...
Stereolab

Tuesday 3rd March - San Fran, Wellington

Press release:
After their last performance in New Zealand over ten years ago, avant-pop band STEREOLAB will return next March for two headline shows in Auckland and Wellington.
Stereolab formed in 1990 around the songwriting nucleus of Laetitia Sadier and Timothy Gane. After taking a break in 2009, the band returned in 2019 to play a series of live shows including Primavera Sound Festival, as well as releasing expanded, remastered reissues of their past studio albums.
They've been described by The Washington Post's Mark Jenkins as one of "the decade's most innovative British bands," and their last New Zealand show was dubbed "Easily the best gig of 09 so far," by Under The Radar - so their return in 2020 won't be a show to miss.
