Pickle Darling Covers David Berman's ‘Nights That Won’t Happen’
Ōtautahi based bedroom-pop songwriter Pickle Darling is in good company on Late Homework, a tribute album to the late David Berman (Silver Jews, Purple Mountains). In the days after news came out of Berman’s passing, musicians Aaron Powell (Fog Lake) and Sheridan Medosch (Florry) joined forces to commemorate the prolific US songwriter with a charity compilation of covers (as did music website Section 26), featuring Frankie Cosmos (as Franz Charcoal), Emperor X, Hello Shark, Little Pink and Aotearoa’s own Pickle Darling aka Lukas Mayo, plus many more – with all proceeds going toward addiction treatment non-profit organisation Shatterproof. Mayo took on his “favourite song of the year” and one of the last releases from Purple Mountains, ‘Nights That Won’t Happen’.
