Ben Woods Announces National Tour + Shares Single 'Good 2 Be Sleeping'
Ōtautahi's Ben Woods is revving up the engine for next week's release of his snappily titled debut album PUT, with today's announcement of a spring release tour with band and Lucy Hunter, plus a brand new tune titled 'Good 2 Be Sleeping'. Woods' third solo single is accompanied by a video directed by Martin Sagadin, who also created Aldous Harding’s VNZMA nominated clip for 'The Barrel'. The woozy sonics of 'Good 2 Be Sleeping' are complimented by expressionistic monochrome visuals, with Woods cutting a striking figure moving like a somnambulist through paint-splattered suburban environments.
Woods' new album promises to draw upon the artist's experiences of living in the recently fraught Garden City to usher in "a new, more personal phase of the 'Antipodean Gothic'". Recorded with Steven John Marr at Dunedin’s Radio One during "a biting cold winter week in 2018," PUT will release on limited edition white vinyl LP and cassette via the hardworking gang at Melted Ice Cream, and is the first Christchurch album to be pressed to vinyl in Aotearoa since all the way back in 1987!
