New York indie-pop darlings Vivian Girls have returned with Memory - their first album since 2011. Something of an indie-anomaly during their first run, Vivian Girls’ dirty, fizzy, bubblegum sound had more in common with Beat Happening, Black Tambourine, or Helen Love, than any other mid-2000s alt-pop headliner. Now, thanks to the 20-year-cycle, or the alignment of the stars, or maybe just the band’s own maturity, they sound more at home in 2019 than they ever did in 2009.
