Moon Duo Drop Single 'Eternal Shore'
Portland's Moon Duo have unveiled a lysergic new tune, ideal for enjoying as you bask in the emerging spring sunshine, letting your mind wander around in a blissful daze while considering the fantastical notion: "What will 2020 bring?" We can't answer that question, but we can say the team of Ripley Johnson (Wooden Shjips) and Sanae Yamada's latest single 'Eternal Shore' is a stretched out cosmic jammer that gets us unreasonably hyped about their forthcoming long player Stars Are The Light, dropping in late September. The psychedelic crew opened up in a statement about the ideas bubbling through 'Eternal Shore's questing sonics...
“We were experimenting with a lot of different rhythms for this record, and this one is in 5/8 time, which is a real departure for us... It moves us further away from the classic motorik beat. And it’s special because it’s the first song on which Sanae wrote the lyrics and sings lead... the lyrics are about the search for a sense of belonging and for the truth of one’s inner being, beneath the masks we’re conditioned to wear in order to function in society.”
'Stars Are The Light' is releasing on Friday 27th September on Sacred Bones.
