Ōtautahi's Kool Aid Share 'Family Portrait' EP
Ōtautahi fuzz-poppers Kool Aid (formerly Brian Tamaki and the Kool-Aid Kids) have unveiled their sun-drenched, bad attitude of an EP Family Portrait. The six-track collection zooms in and out of focus, from the slow, guitar-jangle of 'Family Portrait Revisited' to the unexpected clarity of pop track 'Dead Me' with its bright, catchy organ from Spencer Hall. Vocalists Violet French and Luke Towart take turns singing about debts, snooker and death over bassist Benn Dodd, drummer Brian Feary and Jamie Stratton’s strings and mellotron. The EP was pieced together in Woolston by Feary and Stratton, and released under Christchurch record label and collective Melted Ice Cream. Sink into Family Portrait, the latest and greatest from Kool Aid…
Kool Aid’s EP 'Family Portrait' is out now via Melted Ice Cream.
