Christchurch's Mousey Unveils Debut Single 'Extreme Highs'
Emerging Canterbury songwriter Mousey aka Sarena Close has shared a soaring debut single to warm up your crisp Friday with 'Extreme Highs', the first track revealed from her upcoming album Lemon Law. Combining off-kilter instrumentation with clear-eyed singalong lyricism, 'Extreme Highs' details the emotional roller coaster ride of the artist's time spent living with nine others in a crammed to the brim Christchurch flat.
Mousey opened up about the origins of her tune, “I lived there for a year and I got the worst winter blues... One of my friends from Jazz School had committed suicide, I was dealing with ongoing family issues and I felt like I had no support from the people around me.
Being an extrovert meant that I loved being with people but it would make me extremely depressed thinking that they didn’t really care about the deeper part of me. There was a week that I didn’t even enter the kitchen or the living area of the flat.”
'Extreme Highs' is out now via Spotify, Apple Music and iTunes.
