Caught Live: Aldous Harding Covers Gerry Rafferty's 'Right Down The Line'
At her first show in almost a year, Aldous Harding shared her spin on Gerry Rafferty's classic rock track 'Right Down The Line', the follow-up single to the Scottish artist's very well known 1978 song 'Baker Street'. The Lyttelton folk star performed the cover at Rough Trade in Brooklyn along with tracks from her hugely anticipated upcoming album Designer, due out Friday 26th April. In Harding’s hands, the peppy, mellow 'Right Down The Line' becomes haunting and heartbreaking. With stripped back instrumentation and soft, soprano vocals, the singer highlights the heart-on-your-sleeve, love-letter lyrics. Experience tantalising footage of Harding in a ruby-lit live video shared by Brooklyn Vegan (it cuts off before the end) and compare it with the original version below…
