Press release:
After a few years hiatus, Pyramid Club is very pleased to announce that the Pyramid Power Festival is happening this year, 1-4 May 2019.
The four day festival will be a full on blast of sonic exploration, featuring a huge range of artists from Wellington and around NZ. The festival is being run at Pyramid Club, Thistle Hall Gallery and the Third Eye (see below for more programme info). As part of the festival, an exhibition, '40 Years of Wellington Underground Experimental Music Posters', is being held at Thistle Hall Gallery.
As well as around 40 performances of adventurous music, the festival will include the week-long poster exhibition, a ritual opening May Day performance and procession to Pyramid Club, a specially composed 'Inner City Outer Worlds Sound Walk' curated by Sonorous Circle, a Sound Noise Bath, and an Independent Maker's Market on Sat 4th for you to buy the wares of local musicians, artists and craftspeople.
One of the themes of the festival is new collaborations and we have curated some special one-off match-ups that should prove to be fascinating and historic meetings of musical minds: Motte w/ Omit King Homeboy w/ Jonny Marks Jeff Henderson w/ Gamelan Padhang Moncar Cave Circles w/ Meeps
