Cate Le Bon Unveils Single 'Daylight Matters' + Announces New Album 'Reward'

Welsh avant-pop songwriter Cate Le Bon thrilled local fans with her whirlwind tour of New Zealand in February, which even swooped into South Island steampunk capital Oamaru. An unpindownable creative force, Le Bon has revealed today that a new album titled Reward is on its way this May, and unveiled its lead single 'Daylight Matters'. Le Bon's latest tune sounds less spikey than tracks from her 2016 previous album Crab Day, blending stately chamber pop orchestration with subtly wonky guitar / horn melodies, along with her own distinctive vocal lilt and a few unexpected twists and turns. Le Bon shared a statement exploring the multiple potential meanings of her latest collection's title...

“People hear the word ‘reward’ and they think that it’s a positive word and to me it’s quite a sinister word in that it depends on the relationship between the giver and the receiver... I feel like it’s really indicative of the times we’re living in where words are used as slogans, and everything is slowly losing its meaning.”

'Reward' is out Friday 24th May via Mexican Summer.
