Mermaidens Announce National Tour + Share Single 'You Maintain The Stain'
After nearly two years of downtime between releases, Wellington's Mermaidens are back with ‘You Maintain the Stain’, the first song unveiled from the band's upcoming 7" record dropping this April via Flying Nun Records. The team of Gussie Larkin (Earth Tongue), Lily West and Abe Hollingsworth are celebrating the launch of their shiny new disc (backed by as yet unheard track 'Cut It Open') with a release tour hitting the four main centres in April. The new tune is a raw nerved "fuck you" to entrenched power structures and micro aggressions permeating everyday life – ensorcelling listeners with propulsive angular grooves, steely-eyed lyrics and doom-sludge whirlpools of sound. They wowed audiences at the absolutely crammed Newtown Festival two weeks ago and we suspect there's even more excitement to come this year from the Taite Music Prize 2018 finalists. Open your ears to ‘You Maintain The Stain’ and dive into the tour details below...
