Listen To i.e. crazy's Single 'Country Justice'
Auckland singer and producer i.e. crazy, the solo project of Maggie Magee (Dear Times Waste), has unveiled a powerful track from her new recorded project Women in Love, the keenly awaited follow-up to 2017's debut album Non Compos Mentis. Accompanied by a trigger warning for murder, abuse and child abuse, 'Country Justice' presents listeners with an unnerving sonic whirlpool – teaming sample snippets of kiwiana television staple Country Calendar with jarring industrial drums, woozy synth smears and uncompromisingly intense lyrics. Based on a horrific violent incident in early 20th Century Wellington, the single comes with a dedication stating "RIP Phyllis Symons, knocked unconscious and buried alive – aged 17 and seven months pregnant – by her lover George Coats at the construction site of Mt. Victoria's "tooting" Tunnel in Hataitai, Wellington, Aotearoa New Zealand in 1931." An electrifying live performer, i.e. crazy played at yesterday's mammoth Newtown Festival and is sharing the stage with The Cakekitchen and K-Group at The Wine Cellar on Saturday 16th March.
