Listen To Foolish Soto's Debut EP 'Who Am I To Forget?'
Auckland multi-instrumentalist Foolish Soto aka Seb Soto has lifted the lid on his debut collection Who Am I To Forget?. The five-track offering is riddled with insistent, jazzy ride cymbals, smooth rolling RnB basslines and complex, clean tone guitar chords weaving around the artist’s soulful vocal delivery.
Foolish Soto is a member of Auckland-based mind-melting jazz crew Hot Knives and in 2018 contributed his formidable musical skills to the huge Grow Room track ‘Playa Play The Game’, which appeared on the adventurous recent Two Daze: Local Music Made In 48 Hours compilation. Dive into Soto’s words on his music-making motivation (shared via social media), stream Who Am I To Forget? and peep the gorgeous recent clip for ‘Cynical Society’ below, directed by regular UTR photographer Connor Crawford...
“There is so much in this world that we have yet to find out. So many secrets that can change the way we live, the way we perceive things, that way we feel things. Sometimes it's hard to translate those feelings into words and sentences. We load up all these thoughts into our heads, and when we sleep, we end up having these insane dreams that sometimes we are able to control. So I have translated my thoughts and dreams into songs. It's hard sometimes, living, that is (maybe even all the time) but seeing a loved one smile is enough to keep me going.”
