Royal Trux Unleash Single 'Year Of The Dog'
US outsider-rock legends Royal Trux aka the iconic team of Jennifer Herrema (Black Bananas) and Neil Hagerty recently announced their reformation and upcoming release of their first studio record in a flabbergasting nineteen years White Stuff, due out in early March. They've been teasing fans with a trickle of tracks from the album, and have today dropped another banger with new single 'Year Of The Dog'. Charging out the gate with wig-flippingly feral guitar shreds, the song sounds like straight-up classic RTX – sci-fi synthy swoops recall their 1997 prog-rock epic Sweet Sixteen, cranking fuzzy rock grooves call to mind the band's hook-packed album Veterans Of Disorder, and cryptic drawls from the former student radio mainstays complete the avant-rock package. Unlike Al Stewart's fictional 'Year Of The Cat', the Dog features on the Chinese Zodiac and last happened in 2018, Hagerty reflected on the wild track, stating “sorry to see such an auspicious brown earth dog leave town but we gotta make room for the pig.” Hear it here...
'White Stuff' is out 1st March via Fat Possum.
