Listen To Moniker's Festive Album 'Merry Krautmas'
Lukasz Pawel Buda, Samuel Flynn Scott and Thomas Conrad Wedde of Wellington troubadours The Phoenix Foundation have joined forces under the name of Moniker (also responsible for the Hunt For The Wilderpeople soundtrack) to unleash Merry Krautmas, featuring seven tracks of yuletide cheer with a retrofuturistic twist. Drawing stylistic inspiration from German locked-groove figureheads including Kraftwerk, Neu! and Tangerine Dream, the streamlined collection hits the Autobahn to deliver a medley of festive favourites remodelled for android ears. Turns out hypnotic synth arpeggios and motorik drums provide an ideal soundtrack for gift-giving and getting on the sips in the sun - there's even a zoned-out George Michael cover for good measure (based on Popol Vuh's score for Fitzcarraldo), listen to Merry Krautmas here...
