Marlon Williams Wins 2018 APRA Silver Scroll Award
Lyttelton songwriting icon Marlon Williams took away this year's prestigious APRA Silver Scroll Award for his heart-melting tune 'Nobody Gets What They Want Anymore', originally sung in collaboration with Taite Music Prize-winner Aldous Harding. The awards ceremony was held at Auckland's Spark Arena, with irrepressible songwriter and television personality Anika Moa handling MC duties, tossing out rib-tickling gags with casual aplomb. As is the tradition, a selection of artists were invited to cover each finalist's song live at the ceremony, chosen by this year's Music Director, 1996 APRA Silver Scroll Award winner Bic Runga.
Highlights from the evening included Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern's speech introducing Jenny Morris as 2018's NZ Music Hall Of Fame inductee, and a surprise performance by Netherworld Dancing Toys, who wrapped up the evening with their mid-eighties singalong hit 'For Today'.
