Premiere: DEAF Share Stylish Video 'Shards'
Wellington post-punk / dream-pop five-piece DEAF (featuring members of Sunken Seas and Tiddabades) have shared a cinematic monochrome video for their sweeping sophomore single 'Shards'. The evocative, romantically-tinged visuals created by filmmakers James Henley and Hayden Ellis (also bassist for DEAF) show a lonesome cowboy roaming through fun looking fancy dress house party, encountering all kinds of late night shenanigans along the way. The song is the latest release from DEAF's forthcoming five track debut collection due out in October, they're celebrating the new clip's unveiling with shows alongside fellow travellers Glove and Slow at Wellington's Caroline on Friday 21st September, and with Glove and special guests at Auckland's Wine Cellar on Saturday 29th September. Directors Ellis and Henley lifted the lid on the origins of the band's first ever video, which comes with a "warning - contains flashing lights" message....
"We didn't have a budget so we decided to go for broke with the lo-fi, hand-made feel. We love monochrome and Super 8 and that look felt like an appropriate way to express the song's mood and theme in pictures. The story will continue in the upcoming video for DEAF’s first single ‘Truancy’ which follows these characters as the night continues."
'The DEAF EP' is out Wednesday 31st October.
