Premiere: Créme Jéan Drops Debut Single 'Sleepin' (At My House)' feat. Princess Chelsea
Créme Jéan is the new solo project of Auckland-based singer and multi-instrumentalist Bradley Fafejta, key creative force behind such local faves as Thousand Island, Brand New Math, Teen Wolf and DJ4EVA. Créme Jéan's debut single 'Sleepin' (At My House)' features longtime collaborator Princess Chelsea on guest vocals, like a southern hemisphere Nancy & Lee they trade verses, whipping up an irresistible garage-pop "ode to friends who linger too long on your couch and in your life."
Reflecting on the admin required of collaborative band activities, Fafejta states Créme Jéan will operate firmly within a DIY home-recording auteur mode, declaring he had “just too many half-finished demos piled up due to the typical life cycle of an Auckland band - you practice, you write or record half an album, then you break up. I had to deal with them all for the sake of my sanity.” Inspired by the productivity of bedroom pop artists, the artist now has an album of solo material ready to drop, describing his sound as “the Tramadol John Rowles. A woozy attempt to blend the sound of a classic entertainment act with a fuzzier, mutant vibe.“
Open your ears to 'Sleepin' (At My House)' here and catch Créme Jéan with full live band (feat. Edward Castelow of Dictaphone Blues) at Auckland's Wine Cellar in mid August, and supporting Princess Chelsea at Auckland's Hollywood in October...
You can catch Créme Jéan's live band playing at Auckland's Wine Cellar on Thursday 16th August, and Whammy Backroom on Friday 24th August.
