Tom Scott Drops Debut Avantdale Bowling Club Single 'Years Gone By' + Rarities
Aotearoa hip hop wordsmith Tom Scott (Home Brew, @Peace) has shared the debut single from his new project Avantdale Bowling Club, titled ‘Years Gone By’. The tune is a nearly seven minute jazz-tinged excursion into the artist’s life experiences over the past thirty-four years, featuring the instrumental talents of Julien Dyne, Guy Harrison, Tom Dennison, Mara TK, Ben McNicoll and JY Jong-Yun Lee. Scott’s trademark storytelling prowess weaves effortlessly over the track’s ebb-and-flow of urgency and primal drumming.
To celebrate the release of his reflective number, Scott has released a back catalogue of over 100 songs on Spotify from across his career, and curated a 'takeover' of Spotify’s Australia / New Zealand homepage today, featuring a twenty track by gone years playlist of a huge selection of rarities and B-sides you can stream below. The artist promises an Avantdale Bowling Club record is on the way, and shared his feelings on the musical easter eggs in a statement…
“They told me make a collection of my favourite songs I've written over the years. It feels like a powerpoint slide show that my mum made for my 21st. Or my funeral. Can't tell which."
