Watch The Taite Music Prize 2018 Presentation

The Taite Music Prize 2018 is being awarded tonight at the Civic’s Wintergarden in Auckland, but you can stream the award presentation from the comfort of your own home below! Presented by Independent Music NZ (IMNZ) and named after legendary New Zealand music journalist Dylan Taite, the Prize has long been considered a critics' choice award that "recognises outstanding creativity for an entire collection of music contained on one recording," bestowing $10,000, recording time at Red Bull Studios Auckland and a year’s supply of Red Bull product upon the recipient. Previous winners include Lorde, Ladi6, Lawrence Arabia and Unknown Mortal Orchestra, the artists up for this year's prize are:

Kane Strang - Two Hearts and No Brain
Mermaidens - Perfect Body
Nadia Reid - Preservation
TEEKS - The Grapefruit Skies
The Bads - Losing Heroes

Alongside the main prize, two additional awards will be presented this evening: the Auckland Live Best Independent Debut Award and the Independent Music NZ Classic Record Award.
