French songwriter and actor Charlotte Gainsbourg has followed a run of excellent singles with the release of her first album in seven years Rest, which features appearances by Connan Mockasin, Paul McCartney, and Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo (Daft Punk). Primarily produced by electronic artist SebastiAn, the wide-ranging record encompasses breathy pop and smouldering cosmic funk, with guest collaborations sprinkled throughout.
