Weekly Round Up: Friday 15th September
The week kicked off with a banger with Laneway Festival organisers dropping a killer line-up for the 2018 event featuring the likes of BADBADNOTGOOD, The War On Drugs, Connan Mockasin, Slowdive, Aldous Harding and loads more. Hot Chip's Alexis Taylor announced a solo show for Auckland that will see him behind the piano performing his solo work as well as Hot Chip faves and some special covers. Dance punk veterans !!! (Chk Chk Chk) locked in two shows on our shores, which will be their first visit here in close to a decade. Also returning for the first time in a long time is indie rock pioneers The Shins who are heading over for one Auckland show in November. That same month will see Melbourne duo Client Liaison winging their way over for their debut shows on NZ turf. And trangsressive wordsmith Tourettes will be making tracks around the country with ex-pat Skyscraper Stan during November for an epic 17-stop tour.
In release highlights, Wellington's Mermaidens premiered a lush 70s-esque video for 'Sunstone', which is plucked from their recently released sophomore album Perfect Body. Auckland trio Wax Chattels also served up a visual treat with their new clip for 'It' which comes as they prepare for a tour through Asia. Also coming out of the big smoke, psychedelic dance two-piece Dual dished up a certified banger with their new tune 'Doze'. Modern day crooner King Krule let loose the second single 'Dum Surfer' from his upcoming album The Ooz, and it came with an awesome zombie-themed video. Ex-pat group Full Moon Fiasco lifted the lid off their long-awaited album Summer Eyes and made it available for streaming via Bandcamp. And polarising pop weirdo Ariel Pink cut loose his eleventh studio album Dedicated to Booby Jameson for your streaming pleasure.
This week's Caught Live is some fan-shot footage of Anderson Paak live with The Free Nationals at Teatro Romano Verona recently. Anderson will be performing at Laneway Festival in Auckland in the new year check out the full-line up over here ...
