Premiere: French Concession Shares Captivating Tune 'Winter Storm' + Video
Dream pop maverick French_concession (aka Ella Chau Yin Chi) has dropped an emotive tune titled ‘Winter Storm’, accompanied by a lush video filmed in entirely in Canterbury. The opulent audio-visual combination was self-produced, directed, styled and edited by Ella. The video depicts the artist and two companions traversing through a forest and rowing down an idyllic, flora-occupied river. Ella shared a few words on the how the video came to be:
"'Winter Snow' is the first track to be released on my upcoming French_concession EP. The track tells the story of the long-suffering Empress Dowager Cixi of the late Qing Dynasty in China, who is a personal inspiration of mine.
"For the video I wanted to shoot something relevant to the natural landscapes of Canterbury (where I live in NZ), so my friends and I went out to shoot in different local landscapes: a swamp, forest, beach, a mountain lake and the Port hills after a fire. It rained most of the time during the two day shoot. I owe it to my friends for helping me to create this vision of a femme cult. I think it is the most beautiful video I have shot for French_concession to date."
