PRESS RELEASE:
VECTOR ARENA PRESENTS SOUTHERN FORK AMERICANA FEST 2015 A GATHERING OF AMERICANA ARTISTS FROM NORTH AMERICA, AUSTRALIA & NZ LIVE AT THE GREAT SOUTH PACIFIC TUNING FORK THROUGH OCTOBER 2015
Vector Arena is proud to announce the return of the Southern Fork Americana Fest! Following the successful inaugural festival in 2014, The Great South Pacific Tuning Fork will once again play host to an array of international and local Americana artists.
With more artists and shows to be announced the line up for 2015 is already looking very exciting. Confirmed acts include LA based roots rockers Dawes, described by Rolling Stone Magazine as “authentically vintage” their passion for the music they write and sing shines through on their latest album All Your Favourite Bands which features cameos from alt. country stalwarts Gillian Welch and David Rawlings (who is also the producer). Joining Dawes will be a pair of NZ’s most respected songwriters in the form of The Bads.
Hailing from Texas, Jamestown Revival will bring their deep-rooted harmonies and unique musical style that draws from the sound of the South and classic American rock. Their debut album Utah takes its name and sound from the cabin in the Wasatch mountains of the aforementioned US state where they recorded it. Hotly tipped to become leaders in the Americana revival their debut prompted Americana taste makers No Depression magazine to confidently state that “There is no doubt Utah will be considered one of the best albums of the year.”
Flying in from across the Tasman, Wagons are returning to the Tuning Fork for their last raucous, high energy show in the city for the foreseeable future. Henry Wagons is sneaking off to work on solo material for a new album and tour so the band are having a break for a cup of tea and a sit down. We already know you love this lot as you turned out in force last time they played here so don’t delay on snatching up a ticket for this one!
Lyttelton’s hardest working band, The Eastern will be opening the festival in true party fashion with their energetic rootsy country style and some special guests yet to be announced. Not just content with making waves in New Zealand, The Eastern have exported their sounds across the world and gained rave reviews along the way including five stars from Q Magazine and No Depression labelling them as “One of the best modern roots bands.” Keep your eyes peeled for more information on the opening night as it is shaping up to be a real foot stomping party!
Show dates are as follows with additional shows to be announced shortly.
10 October – Launch Night feat. The Eastern & friends
17 October – Wagons
18 October – Jamestown Revival
