The Unsung Heroes bring together the talents of well-known actors, performers, musicians and journalists in a fascinating musical concept filled with rogues, rebels and folk heroes. They regale us with stories from Aotearoa’s history in the form of theatre, music and song. We’ll hear about Wellington born Nancy Wake, Paddy the Wanderer, and Hūriā Matenga – the Māori heroine from Nelson, and more.
A photographic slideshow of historic images as accompaniment, with gorgeously evocative music and words, and Peter Elliott’s old-style radio diction, sharp timing, and dry humour – all predictive of ways we have come to see ourselves.
Chris Priestley – guitar, vocals, original songs & historic research; Cameron Bennett – guitar, dobro, vocals, & original songs; Nigel Gavin – seven string guitar; Sonia Wilson – vocals; Peter Elliott – narration and poems.
Not for profit, supporting our dedicated musicians. Suggested minimum donation $40
