Rohan Gear
Rohan Gear is a 50-year-old Wainuiomartian with a keen interest in all things Jaw Harp. His journey into the wonderful world of twangery began in the small northern town of Opononi, where he heard a distant, rhythmic “boing” sound—strangely familiar despite having never heard it before. Rohan has been playing the Jaw Harp for about five years and has amassed a collection from around the world.

Jonny Marks
Vocalist and electronic musician Jonny Marks has been a key figure in the creative music scene in Wellington since the early 2000s. In 2007 he moved to Inner Mongolia and Xinjiang for two years, exploring the wilds of north-western China while studying khoomei, traditional Mongolian throat singing. Since that time his vocal work has often incorporated overtone singing, albeit in a form far removed from the Mongolian steppes. Modulating his vocal chords like a synthesizer, Jonny moves between sub-bass drones to ring modulated whistle tones with his voice alone - and now in a spellbinding combination with a beloved Synthi AKS.
