Aotearoa Music Award and Taite Prize winner Vera Ellen kicks off this year’s Rongo Rehutai Summer Music Sessions.
Born and raised in Naenae in Te Whanganui-A-Tara Wellington, Vera Ellen’s first solo album was released on Flying Nun Records – and saw Vera named Best Alternative Artist at the 2022 Aotearoa Music Awards. Her 2023 follow-up album was awarded the prestigious Taite Music Prize for musical excellence.
Fresh from an arena tour of Australia with Crowded House, Vera is hard at work on her third album, which will be released by Flying Nun Records in 2025.
Vera will be supported at this Rongo Rehutai event by songwriter and musician Greta O’Leary, whose recent singles both topped the SRN charts.
A range of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks and bar snacks will be available to purchase from Red Gates bar. Every purchase supports the mahi of Aotearoa New Zealand’s national museum.
