Te Whanganui-a-Tara based indie rockers Search For Yeti are hitting the road to take their new album 'Dark So Soon' around the country.
Drawing influences from indie rock, britpop, folk and new-wave with an emphasis on hooks and melodies, the album shows a diverse range which has been praised as “a brilliant debut” (Chris Philpott), “warm, expansive and guaranteed to elicit a genuine emotional reaction” (13th Floor), “the songs stick with you, dreamlike in their form” (music.net.nz), and “hard rock, indie rock, power pop, atmospheric, it comfortably straddles them all” (Elsewhere).
Search For Yeti are Luke Marlow (vocals/guitar), Vince Waide (guitar/bass/moog taurus/vocals), Sean Barker (drums, samples, vocals).
Joining the band for the Kirikiroa show will be Tāmaki Makarau jangle-rock kings Cowboy Dan, as well as local dark pop solo artist Emerson Kole.
Cowboy Dan make jangly happy sad music from the depths of Tāmaki Makaurau. Their first two EPs are available now, combined and pressed on clear vinyl. Debut full-length 'Dreams That Feel Like Falling' is set for release mid 2025, with first single 'Autumn Leaves' streaming now.
What do you get when you pair pop melodies with dark instrumentation? You get the young and talented Emerson Kole. Her sound is deliciously grim and she enjoys creating songs under the genres of pop, indie, and rock.
