She has been writing songs since she taught herself guitar at 10 years old, and singing since as early as she can remember. She takes musical inspiration from big pop singers, as well as smaller independent artists, fusing her sound into a mixture of pop, pop-rock and singer-songwriter.
Scarlett is the brainchild of Jess Haugh (Music Producer/Audio Engineer), who produces, records and mixes all her own music. Jess likes to experiment with sampling and synth sounds to get a unique sound for Scarlett Lashes. Jess has produced and directed a number of music videos that capture the character and performance of Jess’s alter ego Scarlett Lashes adding a bit of humour and wildness to Aotearoa’s music scene.
