Since the inception of the band in 2018, Dream State Empire have begun to solidify their presence in the New Zealand music scene, becoming two-time national finalists in the New Zealand Battle Of the Bands National Championship (2018, 2019), and taking out the award for Best Songwriting at the 2019 National Finals.
