Gig Information

Tāmaki Makaurau artist Leonard Powell is bringing his acoustic guitar up SH1 for a special solo show at The Woodshed. Performing softly sung songs from his debut album “Slow Mover”, as well as newer unreleased music, expect laughter, crowd interaction and space for introspection. Leonard’s music reflects his inquisitive, gentle and playful nature, and will shine in this intimate setting.

Leonard has played several shows this year, supported by his band “The Lambs”, including a sold out album release at the iconic Wine Cellar on Karangahape Road in Auckland. The band recently played a live session at Radio New Zealand, and also completed a two date jaunt down the country called the “Desert Road Dash”, which saw them play in Palmerston North and Wellington. His fringe show will be a solo affair, which from past experiences will allow more space, creativity and spontaneity to bubble through.

The gig marks something of a full circle moment for Leonard, who purchased his first guitar from the Whangarei Rock Shop back at Christmas 2019, just before the pandemic. He navigated lockdown with the guitar by his side, and hasn’t put it down since, going from a novice to a comfortable performer in a short space of time.

Doors at 2pm, Music 2:30 – 3:30

This will be a seated show, all ages, bring a smile.
