Gig Information

Join Wellington's up and coming pop-punk sensation Dani Josie as she debuts her up and coming single along side Spencer Coyle and Bittersweet on the 14th of August at Big Fan! Doors at 7:30pm.

Dani Josie:

Born and raised in Wellington, 19-year-old Dani Josie burst onto the music scene in 2024 with her debut single ‘Go, Go, Go’. After acquiring the attention of producer Devin Abrams, the two worked together to capture Josie's authentic and real stories.

From a young age, Dani has had an incredible ability to write relevant and relatable songs with unique melodies and uplifting styles. Dani's lyrics and energy enable her to connect with a crowd beyond the music.

Dani Josie’s musical talents blossomed as she grew alongside high school bandmates of ‘The Lighthouse Project’. These connections stay with her today as the bandmates continue to support her during numerous live performances with the likes of Wet Denim, Spencer Coyle and REID.

Inspired by artists such as Olivia Rodrigo, Avril Lavigne, Paramore, Morgan Wallen and Noah Kahan, who are known for their strong and vulnerable songwriting, Dani Josie writes from her own experiences. This can be seen from her earlier tracks ‘When I Was Young’ and ‘Bye Bye Now’.

Dani's music has consisted of electrifying punk spirit, authentic country storytelling and pop’s addicting energy that will keep you hooked from the first chord to the final chorus. Dani’s goal is to bring life back into live music and really focus on bringing people together, away from online and being their true authentic self.

Spencer Coyle:

As word of mouth traveled, Spencer Coyle’s demos would end up in the right hands and the rest was history. Discovered by industry legend Six60’s Ji Fraser and signed to Massive Records, Spencer Coyle has seriously become one to keep an eye on. Spencer began writing songs on an acoustic guitar but has since taught himself how to produce his own music, allowing him to combine his own lyrics and production to create self-made demos.

At just 17, an invitation to Six60’s Auckland studio in 2021 saw the songwriter strike a chord with Fraser and together, the pair wrote debut single Somebody To Love in the final moments of a writing session. Following on from the release, Spencer Coyle joined forces with New Zealand pop royalty Drax Project and recorded hit single Castaway; a project inspired by on-going lockdowns and the desire to get away from it all.

Since his 2022 debut, Spencer has gained 250K WW streams and 80K YouTube views. 2023 saw Coyle join Aotearoa icon Mitch James on his 13-date nationwide ‘The Long Road Home’ tour where he connected with die-hard fans. The young artist continues to pave his path as one of New Zealand’s brightest stars on the rise with the backing and mentorship of industry heavy-weights.

Bittersweet, an exciting indie-pop/rock band from Auckland, is thrilled to finally share their debut single, self-titled Bittersweet, with the world on the 24th of November and to celebrate, they are putting on their first-ever show at The Underground on the 14th of December.

Bittersweet are bursting onto the Kiwi music scene with style and enthusiasm as they slowly gain a loyal following. After being together for three years, the young band re-branded in 2023 and quickly got to work writing some catchy tunes and playing shows. Bittersweet is fronted by Ella Reid on vocals, followed by Liam Beasley and Dan Steele on guitar, with brothers Owen and Jack Frear making up the rhythm section, playing the bass and drums respectively. The various musical backgrounds of Bittersweet's five members result in a sound that crosses numerous genres, drawing inspiration from indie and rock music.
