OMMU combines the talents of three long-time contributors to Ōtepoti Dunedin's independent music scene. CRAIG MONK (Mink, Cloudboy, Heka), JEFF HARFORD (Bored Games, The Rip, Valve, Die Musikband) and TENZIN MULLIN (Suka, Heka, Jay Clarkson & The Containers) present an evening of fully improvised instrumental pieces. From sparse and gentle ambient sketches to intense psych-rock jams, OMMU’s music exists only in the moment of its creation. With no set list to rely on, the players conjure up melodic themes from thin air and ride a precarious wave of inspiration.
ß& (pronounced 'ssand') by Jon Chapman is a strain bred from Dunedin improvised drone-rock trio Eye, and Philly/Brooklyn's psych-noise explorers Double Leopards. To the delight of listeners, ß& has the energetic effect profile of ecstatic ambient while offering sizeable yields and a moderate flowering time. Mango and citrus notes express themselves loudly and bring a sweet overtone to ß&'s earthy, spicy aroma. Staying true to its free noise genetics, ß& delivers uplifting cerebral energy that fuels creativity, focus, and happiness, and then tapers into calm relaxation in time.
