Winter is upon us, and two titans of Aotearoa doom have joined forces to light the darkness across the motu this August. Tāmaki Makaurau occult doom sextet Demons of Noon and Ngāmotu groove doom trio Infinity Ritual will be piling in the van to play Ōtautahi, Ōtepoti, Pōneke, Tāmaki Makaurau, Kirikiriroa and Ngāmotu.
Demons of Noon and Infinity Ritual both released albums that climbed the Doom Charts last year. The 13th Floor gave ‘Death Machine’ by Demons of Noon a five-star review and said they could take it proudly into Valhalla, and Wonderbox Metal said that ‘II’ by Infinity Ritual was “packed with riffs that make you want to move, and a charismatic presence that draws you in close”. Both albums feature a song called ‘Succession’. Who did it better? Show up to the Succession Tour to find out.
In the proud tradition of double-header tours, headlining rights for each show will be decided on the day through coin tosses, tests of skill, feats of strength, pop quizzes or the opinions of random strangers.
In Tāmaki Makaurau they will be joined by dense and melancholic instrumental doom band Thousand Limbs, fresh off the release of their debut album The Aurochs.
