Gig Information

Celebrate the Year of the Dragon, as we bring together the most outstanding choirs of the many from China who have entered the World Choir Games 2024. Two special ‘Night of the Dragon’ concerts will be held in the atmospheric surroundings and warm acoustics of Auckland’s Holy Trinity Cathedral.

Expect highly polished, beautiful and moving performances from the featured groups, who are all celebrated within the vast choral world of mainland China. As an exciting bonus, each concert will begin with a short presentation from a specially assembled massed choir, conducted by one of our esteemed World Choir Games jurors.

The Hangzhou Qianjiang Star Children's Choir was established in 2010. Adhering to the motto of Calmness, Respect, Responsibility, and Sharing, it cultivates the spirit of teamwork among children. With its diverse repertoire, high-level singing skills, and extraordinary artistic appeal, the Qianjiang Star Children's Choir has received accolades from many choral experts and a wide audience. They have made significant contributions to promoting cultural exchanges, spreading friendship, and advancing the development of regional children's choir music.

The Diocesan Boys’ School (“DBS”) Choir consists of the school's most outstanding choristers in the senior forms. It is a group that performs and competes frequently in Hong Kong and overseas. In addition to obtaining outstanding competition results, they were also frequently invited to perform in world-class venues such as the National Centre of Performing Arts in Beijing, China in August 2009 as well as the prestigious Royal Albert Hall in London, UK, for the International Youth Choir Festival.

The Guangzhou Little Petrel Children’s Choir was founded in 1978 as an affiliated choir of the Haizhu District Youth Palace, it has made tremendous contributions to children’s art training in Guangdong and won the prestigious honor like “National Excellent Choir” and “Guangdong Excellent Choir”. “The Little Petrel Children’s Choir” can not only perform Chinese and foreign songs of different periods and styles accurately and wonderfully, but also leaves an unforgettable impression with its sweet voice, diverse timbres, beautiful harmony, and dynamic stage performance.

These will be two wonderful nights of fellowship and fine music for everyone who enjoys stunning costumes and superb singing alongside our Chinese community.
