In advance of their upcoming album Animalia, Laney Blue are playing an intimate one-off show at Moons. Joined for the evening by their dear friend, Alex Martyn, this show promises to be a night to remember.
Beloved Ōtepoti folk-pop group Laney Blue has blessed us with a brand spanking new single - Blanket Fort, in anticipation of their upcoming sophomore album Animalia. Recorded between 20 December 2023 and 20 January 2024 in two different locations (a North Dunedin school classroom, and a Willis Street-based studio in the waterfront area of Dunedin) - Blanket Fort gives us a sweet, dreamy, and ethereal taste for what’s to come later this year. Composed of singer, guitarist and lyricist Nick Tipa, violinist/singer Olive Butler, bassist Jeremy, and drummer Zac Nicholls with special guest keyboardist Finn Butler, Laney Blue have already cut their teeth with their debut album Dreamer Too which graced our ears in 2021. Now, in their first collaboration with producer and engineer Andy Straight, Laney Blue is here to share more of that tender and heartfelt sweetness we know and love them for.
Ōtepoti based musician Alex Martyn (Ngāti Tūwharetoa, Pākehā) finds his roots in folk, and branches out from there into all manners of guitar storytelling. He muses on the cold Dunedin nights, lingers on the cold Dunedin love, and ends up making sense of it all in the warmth of song.
