Gig Information

Showcasing a diverse and curated selection of artists at the forefront of
alternative arts within Aotearoa and abroad, Port Noise is an annual music festival like no other.

Through collaboration with our community, Port Noise transforms the car park and courtyard that connects three neighbouring iconic venues in Ōhinehou, adding our own outdoor stage, while offering festival-goers the best local cuisine, craft beverages, merchandise and record pop ups, immersive installations, and artist-led micro experiences.

While Port Noise primarily takes place in this central hub, patrons are also invited to a range of unannounced, intimate performances throughout Ōhinehou. Throughout local industrial and heritage spaces, these dazzling, one-of-a-kind performances feature a huge roster of unannounced guests, collaborating and performing in a context that is completely unique to our festival.

American drag-rap performance artist gone lush Mediterranean cowboy, Mykki Blanco will be joining the bill. Alongside will be the mesmerisingly brittle group built from members of The Dirty Three and Mckisko, Mess Esque, and Melbourne-based disco-shredding indie pop sensations, Cool Sounds.

As well as these overseas travellers, we have Flying Nun jangle alumni The Bats, psychedelic buzz-boppers Soaked Oats, celestial beat messengers Clear Path Ensemble, fevered avant-garage trio Coolies, opera-dungeon-techno-sludge oufit Grecco Romank, downbeat soul-style MC Mā, aliencore trip-hop collaborators PollyHill x Samara Alofa, ground-dwelling fuzz-rockers Wurld Series, Oamaru grog-rockers Cuticles, Ōhinehou local hip-hop legend Kommi, and the debut of the modular polyrhythmic era-bending Worldwide Panopticon.

Not to mention our late night kick-ons featuring the Big Fresh Collective Takeover, Borrowed CS, and Craigslist DJs.

After our sell-out debut this year, which cemented Port Noise as Te Waipounamu’s most anticipated alternative music event, 2024 will see an even more expansive Port Noise. By adding a larger outdoor stage, more food vendors, and increasing our ticket allocations and festival footprint, we can host more prominent local and international talent, while retaining the artist and community led feel that makes our festival so distinctive.

In a space curated to embrace the industrial beauty of our hometown, while expanding the limits of what one may expect from a music festival–– we invite both audience and artist alike to come bask in the wild glory of this shared true telling of the self.
