Auckland-based post-punk group SCRAN began as a project between friends, singer-songwriter Lewis Yeats and guitarist/backing vocalist Oscar Davies-Kay (Water, Rackets) in 2022.
The two quickly developed a body of work, which has evolved as the band expanded to include a swath of familiar local talent; guitarists James King (DHDFD’s, Cindy), Liam Pram (For The Girl Who Has Everything), bassist Paul Brown (Trust Punks, The Horror In Clay), and drummer Mason Fairey (Louisa Knicklin).
Their debut single, ‘Born Again’ explores the darker aspects of social life, with palpable grief and discomfort. Lyrics charged with catharsis meld with the band's post-punk dynamics to form a distinct character.
They will celebrate their first release at The Wine Cellar on Friday, 17th of November, alongside Family Band and Burdenz.
