Gig Information

Enjoy a bougee afternoon at the hippest joint on the Hauraki Plains with one of the country's hottest jazz outfits! Love Square band-leader Nick Atkinson (Supergroove, Hopetoun Brown, Come Together horns) describes the trio as a musical magic carpet. The three of us write and select tunes that excite us rhythmically and tonally. In many ways we're taking you on a global musical journey... traversing the highlands of Bolivia and Columbia, the islands of Jamaica, St Martin and the many African nations that inform our feels and melodies. Joining Nick on this jazz journey are two of the country's finest musicians. Finn Scholes on brass, percussion and electric piano and Alistair Deverick, an extremely well travelled drummer who's done his time with Neil Finn and Lawrence Arabia while always being the back-bone of the surreal Finn Scholes outfit, Carnivorous Plant Society.

Love Square's upcoming performance at The Refinery has been years in the making as Nicola and Nick worked tirelessly to figure out a way to make it happen. At last Love Square are saddling up for Paeroa with their considerable array of saxophones, clarinets, trumpets, trombones, vintage electric pianos, keyboards and a hoard of percussion, cymbals and drums. Bathe your ears in lush woodwind harmonies and groove along to rhythms from around the world at the now historic and wonderfully atmospheric Refinery....and don't forget The Refinery offers boutique, high-decor accom right on sight. Take date night to the next level!
