Powder Chutes have booked studio time in October and November, and proceeds from all tickets and merchandise will help to pay for the recording of their first full length album.
Powder Chutes are a young, emerging rock band from Wanaka, producing fiercely original music which is gaining a ground-swell of interest both nationally and internationally.
Described by Radio One 91FM as “dripping in influences of sweaty garage rock and 90's grunge, and already punching well above their weight in the Aotearoa music scene. With chunky riffs, and BIG fills, they have every head turning”.
The band is made up of Archie Orbell (drums), Clarke West (guitar), Henry McConnell (vocals), and Otis Murphy (bass), all aged between 16 and 18.
‘Moths To The Flame’, their recent single, entered the Hot 20 NZ Singles at No.9, and was voted as No.1730 on The Rock FM 2000, which attracted 1.5 million votes from 100,000 voters from NZ and across the globe, all voting for the greatest rock song of all time.
Between May 26th and July 28th ‘Moths’ was in the 40 most played rock songs on New Zealand radio for 8 out of 10 weeks; no mean feat for such a youthful band.
If you’ve never seen Powder Chutes live… come along, you’re in for a treat… and if you have seen them live before… come along, as you’ll already know you’re in for a treat.
