Following the initial lineup announcement in July, we are excited to announce the balance of the performers for the Lines of Flight festival, to be held in Otepoti Dunedin later this year.
Los Angeles noise musician Gabie Strong brings a lifetime of art and activism to the festival, and Shape of a Mouth combines the prepared piano magic of Hermione Johnson with multi-instrumentalist Ro Rushton-Greene.
Melbourne-based Ov Pain (Renee Balance/Elan Vital and Tim Player/Opposite Sex) make a welcome return visit to Otepoti, as do the beautiful improvised soundscapes of guitarist/field recorder Peter Wright.
A Dream is Like a Magic Cloak pairs the improvised twin violin attack of Motoko Kikkawa and Ro Rushton-Greene with the guitar of Peter Porteous, and the hymnal folk of Angelica Archangelica (Kate Reid) and sonic artistry of Rose James complete the strong local contingent.
To close out the festival, DJ Kiran Dass will now be joined by Ducklingmonster and Grans Remedy – the Uniform Mobile Disco!
There will also be some associated events happening on the streets of Port Chalmers during the festival, so keep an ear to the ground.
The much-loved Lines of Flight experimental music festival returns after a four year absence. First held in 2000, the festival will be celebrating its twelfth iteration. Founder and key organiser Peter Stapleton died in 2020, and this festival will be a tribute to his amazing and inspiring contributions to the underground musical landscape of Aotearoa.
