Ōtautahi indie-rock group Spirit Boy will share their most intimate song to date with the release of their latest single ‘Runaway’ on the 2nd of June.
‘Runaway’ is a steep departure from the 80s stadium-inspired rock of the band’s first two singles. Instead, the song sees frontman Ethan Mead lean into his love of folk and Americana, creating a sparse and moody soundscape that complements the song’s melancholic theme: the emotional duality of knowing that a relationship is falling apart yet not wanting to accept it.
To celebrate the release of ‘Runaway', Spirit Boy will play Christchurch’s Space Academy on Friday 2 June, with support from Holly Kimber and Ellie Oak.
